| Robert Schifeld Robert is originally from Fort Worth, Texas, but spent most of his childhood overseas with his military family. After bouncing around with his family and spending part of his own life in the military, Robert finally settled in New York. As he grew older he faced a new adversary - a diagnosis of cancer. His doctors warned him that his prognosis was not very favorable. Mr. Schifeld moved to our area not long ago, having deciding that the VA Hospital at Fort Gordon was better equipped to treat his type of ailment. The climate was much better for his recovery process and his doctors have upgraded his outlook. "After you've been told that you might not live much longer, you reflect on a lot of things'', says Mr. Schifeld. He only became serious with his artwork about 3 years ago, and it has become a source of therapy for him. Robert's drawings are done with an audience of children in mind. Mostly self-taught, he sketches with colored pencils and uses a fantastical dragon theme in most of his work. Robert, always with the quickest volunteer spirit, has become an invaluable asset to the Council in both service and inspiration. | |
