                                Marion C. Ivey                                                Mingus

Marion is a life-long resident of McDuffie County.  He serves as the Council's 2008-09 Chairman.  Marion is also the son of one of the Council's more accomplished artisans, Bracton Ivey.  "My father is the craftsman, whereas my art deals more in the abstract," says Marion.  Using the techniques taught to him by his father, he creates abstract-impressionist metal sculptures.  Marion says, "I really look forward to the escape that creating with my hands provides, I am able to forget about the world for a while, and the result is usually very gratifying".  Marion, like his father uses a lot of "found" material to create his brand of "ECO-ART".
"I'm very pleased and excited to be a part of this Council and look forward to the many things that we will accomplish for the art scene in McDuffie County," says Marion.
