THE FISHERBOY

(The world as I see it…)

By Charles Osborne

The little, red school was calling me.

The vast lake was yearning to be fished.

The fishing pole felt like a 100 pound weight in my hands.

The book was like an all seeing eye, staring at me with its knowledge.

Waves of the lake were spraying me,

Summoning me to fish.

Fish fought for food on the pole.

Bells were ringing, like a melodious choir singing. The book was making me feel bad about not going to school,

But, Ma needed dinner, and I wanted to catch it, which made me feel even worse.

Finally, I decided to go to school.

I broke the fishing pole and threw it in the lake.

It felt the curse being lifted from me.

But, then I realized…it was Sunday!

The Fox that Escapes

By Dakota Gergen

(The world as I see it, from the fox’s point of view)

There are dogs behind me and grass blowing in my face.

I hear dogs barking and the thudding of dogs’ feet.

The smell of the morning mist and the dew on the grass from the night before is all around.

I taste the seeds off the grass and the wetness of the dew in my mouth as I run like a deer.

I feel the wind blowing against my muzzle, and the leaves fallin on my soft gray back

A Cat's Life

(The world as I see it, from the point of view of a cat)

By Treasure Harvey

A beautiful, gorgeous person pointing a spontaneous flash of light in front

of me.

Someone is laughing as I carefully bat my eyes at the clicking camera.

Fresh, clean cat food is coming my way.

The taste of the last long-lasting bites of my food goes away.

Look at my soft fur fully on my flesh as I hiss at the camera.

The world As I See It.

(From the perspective of a drummer boy in the Revolutionary War)

By Caroline Adkins

Soldiers taking position.

Red Coats getting ready to fire.

Blast! Boom! Bang! People fall to the ground.

The drum is calling, “Stop! I’ve had enough!”

I smell the soldier’s gun powder as they get ready to fire again.

Nervous sweat is dripping from my face.

Blood dribbles down my cheek.

Deep down in my stomach a knot is forming.

I hope that I will make it out safely.

A man comes to tell me it’s all over.

Forest Friends

(The world as I see it)

By Hannah Allen

The lanky, white potted deer

The bulky, little squirrel clinging to a tree

They are touching noses as if to say they are best friends.

Leaves are talking as they wave in the spring air.

The animals are Mother Nature working in harmony.

The fresh forest green inched its way into my nose.

The brown dirt covers the forest floor like a big brown blanket.

The grass is rubbing my lip as I lay there trying to hide while watching the sweet creatures.

An exciting feeling flips in my stomach as the squirrel placed its tiny cheek on the deer’s.

I am winsome while watching wild animals.

Little chill bumps crawl up my skin.

Fish for Me

The world as I see it...

By Hunter Vinson

I want to fish, but I have school today.

What will it be, worm or work?

I like to fish like a bee likes honey.

Why can’t I fish? This is no fun!

School is too boring.

Oh, today is a Saturday! Yaaah!

Where are my worms?

The Forest Field trip

(The World as I see it)

By: Jake Tuten

The beautiful wide open space has all kinds of wild life as I’m on my forest field trip.

Squirrels, deer, and birds are there as well.

But those animals are as fast as a speeding car.

The birds are chirping.

The bugs are scattering on the forest floor.

I breathe in the fresh air and honey suckle, the fishy pond, and eww, is that a skunk?

I eat a juicy red apple and some berries I find from the trees and bushes.

I place my hands gently on a giant forest tree; it feels rough and strong.

I am free in this forest.

                                The Fox Hunt

(The world as I see it, from the point of view of the horse.)

By Amber Vinson

The fox is running a meter dash.

The leaves fall as we are galloping wildly.

Other horses are pounding their hooves.

The dogs are sounding their alarm; they have something in their noses.

The huntsman is on my back.

Some are too late.

Bugs and grass hit my face and fly.

I am reminded of home.

I look forward to the apple that my rider has for me.

I like the cold misty air against my bare nose and ears…

Family

My wish for the world…

By: Katie Dowle

Every cat should have caring children to collaborate with.

To be amazed by the soft fluffiness.

To play with,

To laugh with,

To be family.

Fish Feast

(The world as I see it…)

By Daniel Welch

Big fish jumping,

Small fish jumping,

Splashing like rain,

Little talking,

Fish getting cooked,

Big salads being served,

Tangy salty air,

Happy with my family,

Everybody is stuffed

From the fish feast.

On The Run

(The world as I see it from the perspective of a fox.)

By: Jake Derry

As I run, the grassy pasture travels as fast as a red Ferrari.

Twenty-two dogs are right on my tail.

They are barking as loud as can be,

Men in red are screaming in some foreign language.

The awful fragrance of the dogs is chasing me.

The plants that fall behind me smell awful together.

My own saliva is bitter as it falls out of my mouth.

The taste of that chicken I had an hour ago returns.

The hard terrain of dirt, grass, twigs, and thorns

are beating my bare paws,

The limbs are grabbing me as I run as fast as I can.

I am a fox on the run.

My First Fox

(The world as I see it.  From the point of view of a fox hound)

By Georgia Kate Kent

A wide wonderful workplace,

Grass flying past my head tells me how fast we are going.

I pick up the scent of a fox.

The rustling leaves tell me as the fox gets to the woods.

I hear the crisp grasses underfoot as we head toward the thicket.

I taste the determination and victory we face.

I lead the men to the fox on my first hunt.

I am proud as my person scratches behind my ears.
