Marian Wielinga
Marian is the spouse of one of our other Council members, Roel Wielinga, but stands alone as a fine artist in her own right. While at Rhinehart College she was inspired by her art professor to pursue a career in art. She went from there to the University of Georgia to further her arts education. Marian spent 20 years as a public school system art instructor, encouraging young minds to explore the world of art, most recently at Langford Middle School. Since her retirement she has finally been able to expand her own craft. Marian can create with most art forms but her passion is three-dimensional art. She worked with clays in her childhood and still hand-builds her forms. Marian's art is decorative with a flare of abstract and whimsy. Mrs. Wielinga produces a series of wire-wrapped wine bottles of different artistic themes that her patrons often request. Marian, a true kindred spirit, enjoys creating with polymer clays, natural clays, ceramics and different mixed media to create her very unique art projects. Marian is an active, charter member of the Council.
