Charles "Bracton" Ivey
Bracton has lived in the McDuffie County area for 35 years. After retiring from the civil service he was able to devote more of his time to his craft. Bracton is a student of "hands on" art. A master woodworker, carver, stained glass craftsman and blacksmith, he has found his calling in hand forged metal work. He specializes in "Junk Yard Art", using "found" materials to construct detailed pieces. Metal sculptures that contain elements of folk art, abstractionism, impressionism, and figurative interpretation go into his three-dimensional art. Intricate, elaborate, complex and ornate are words that can be used to describe Mr. Ivey's brand of art.
Bracton has earned quite a following of patrons both locally and regionally. He has been commissioned by several institutions to create specific pieces including a three dimensional caricature series for the Children's Art Museum of Georgia and a magnet school in Bibb County. He is a regular and featured artist in the Macon Arts Council Gallery as well. Bracton has also produced a number of limited edition sculptures that belong to private collections, and he showcases them at juried shows. He has a local fan base for his line of "yard art" that is used in garden settings as interesting decoration. Please visit his website http://www.papasart.net . Bracton is a charter member of the Council.
