"ARTS IN THE ALLEY"
A CELEBRATION OF AREA FINE ARTS
SATURDAY, MAY 8th, 2010
ON HISTORIC AND NOSTALGIC JOURNAL STREET
THOMSON, GEORGIA
The day long event will be held from 10am to 6pm and feature visual artists, performance artists and literary artists as well as fine craftsman.
There are spaces available to visual artists and/or fine craftsmen. You have been selected either by reputation or at the suggestion of a trusted adviser, and the McDuffie Arts Council is pleased to extend an invitation for you to join our Spring exhibition.
Guidelines
--The displaying artist must be on site throughout the event.
--All work must be original work by the artist
--No work from commercial molds, kits, handicrafts or manufactured items will be allowed.
--All work must be hand-produced by the artist. Only signed and numbered prints will be allowed and must be limited to no more than 2500. Any prints or reproductions must be of work by the original selling artist and must be clearly marked as a reproduction.
--There will be no pricing limitations imposed on artists.
--Any work not available for purchase must be clearly marked accordingly.
--There will be no commissions or selling fees gathered by MAC. Artists are responsible for collecting and/or reporting sales tax.

Exhibit Space Fee
12x12 spaces will be $25 for MAC members and $35 for non-members. Please visit the membership page for more details on becoming a MAC member.
Double spaces are available for 2X the single space rate.
Awards
The Best Of Show entries will be judged by one or more local art enthusiasts who are not members of MAC. The fee for the award competition will be $10 per entry. You may enter as many pieces as you wish. The prizes are as follows:
Best Of Show - $100
Runner-Up - $50
Other Guidelines
Artists must furnish their own display equipment, tent, chairs, tables, etc. The exhibition is outside, so artists should plan accordingly. Artists will be responsible for securing tent and wares. The spaces available are on concrete, asphalt or brick. NO stakes, pins or other reinforcement may be driven into these surfaces. Electricity can made available for an additional charge. Demonstrations are encouraged! Please do not begin to dismantle your display until the event is over or the event director grants permission.
Access to the site will begin at 6 am. All spaces must be completely set up by 9:30 am.
MAC members will be on site all day to assist, should you need a break

The McDuffie Arts Council appreciates your consideration. It is the goal of the Council to make "Arts in the Alley" a quality, accessible fine arts exhibition that will offer an educational exposure to the diversity of local arts and artists.

Artist's Agreement:
Submission of this Application is a commitment to participate in the May 8, 2010 McDuffie Arts Council event,, "Arts in the Alley." The undersigned agrees that he/she will open for business during the official show hours unless the show director decides otherwise. The undersigned does hereby and forever discharge the City of Thomson, The County of McDuffie and the McDuffie County Arts Council, its officers and directors of and from all manner of actions, suits, damages, claims and demands whatsoever in law or equity; from any loss or damage to the undersigned property while in the possession, supervision or auspices of the City of Thomson, County of McDuffie, McDuffie Arts Council, its directors, members or officers.
The undersigned also authorizes the use of images submitted with this application. The McDuffie Arts Council event, "Arts in the Alley" committee reserves the right to make the final interpretation of all rules and/or guidelines.
