As far back as she can remember, Anne has enjoyed painting. After her children left home for college, she was able to devote more time to developing her craft. She began taking classes from successful artists, Jim Gensheer and Bea Kuhlke of Augusta. Mrs. Knox has also taken instruction from published writer and nationally known artist, Bob Burridge of California. Over the years, these masters have influenced her techniques and helped deepen her talent. Broadstrokes Gallery owner, Lillie Morris, invited Anne to be the guest artist for a First Friday in Augusta, Ga. Her debut at the Greater Augusta Arts Council's monthly event was a grand success, and seven of her paintings found new owners. Mrs. Knox's husband and Mrs. Morris recognized Anne's potential that evening and encouraged her to continue painting. Anne's studio is in her basement, where she enjoys quiet times painting with acrylics. Many of her works belong to private collectors, and some have been offered up for auction at local charitable events. She is a featured artist in the Thomson-McDuffie County Musuem, and the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art and a participating artist in Walton Rehabilitaion's UnderCover Art fundraiser. Mrs. Knox won First Place at Arts in the Alley Visual Art Competition 2009 and won Best of Show at the same exhibition in 2010.
Anne has been a very active member of the Thomson community for many years. She and her husband, local businessman Andy Knox, have two children. The Council is pleased to have Anne's help in celebrating our area's local talent.
